Purpose:
Ancillary Services at York University offers a diverse range of campus services and amenities aimed at enriching the student experience and supporting the university’s mission and vision. This role involves safely and efficiently transporting community members on and off campus using large passenger buses.
Education:
Candidates must possess a valid Ontario Class ‘C’ license and Air Brakes Certificate (‘Z’ endorsement) in good standing. A clean driving record and the ability to operate vehicles safely are required.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years’ recent experience (within the last 5 years) driving large passenger buses is necessary. Additionally, one (1) year of recent customer service experience is required.
Proficiency in English is essential for receiving and conveying messages via two-way radios in vehicles and providing excellent customer service, including greeting clients, conveying important information to passengers, and addressing inquiries. Candidates should be capable of operating a mobile device to respond to calls and verify passenger bookings. Demonstrated respect for diversity and promotion of inclusion in the workplace, along with contributions to a positive, diverse team environment, are crucial. Candidates should also be committed to continuous learning and skill development in diversity, inclusion, and cultural competence.

Candidates must be able to lift and load heavy materials. Basic French language skills are desirable. Successful candidates must complete all mandatory university training sessions. The position requires flexibility in working shifts as assigned. A valid Driver’s Licence, a satisfactory Driver’s Record, and a Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the University are required prior to employment commencement.
